Boozy Caramel Hot Chocolate

Even though the holidays are over, winter is still the perfect time to cozy up with a hot beverage. Living in New York, we still have a few months left of cold weather. Why not enjoy staying indoors by making some delicious home made hot chocolate?

This hot chocolate can be made without booze to enjoy any time or share with the whole family. But if you want to turn your hot chocolate into a cocktail then read ahead for some tasty suggestions that make this recipe extra warm and cozy.

Hot chocolate

You might only have some powdered mix in your cabinets, and that can work too, but home made hot chocolate is definitely better. You can make this recipe vegan by using nut milk instead of cow’s milk. Almond or coconut milk works well. If making vegan be sure to use vegan chocolate chips.

Make it frozen

If you’re not in a cold part of the world, or you just like cold drinks, try a frozen hot chocolate! Let your hot chocolate cool to room temperature and add it to a blender with ice or ice cream.

Booze options

There are so many different liquors and liqueurs that work well in hot chocolate. Here are just a few alternate suggestions.

  • Caramel vodka
  • Chocolate vodka
  • Coconut liqueur
  • Spiced rum
  • Vodka
  • Coffee liqueur
  • Cream liqueur
