Spoon the apple butter generously over the top of the brie wheel, apples, and prosciutto.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and soft to the touch, the prosciutto has crisped up in the oven, and the apple butter is warm and bubbling.
Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped walnuts or fresh thyme leaves, if desired. Serve immediately with warm crostini, crackers, or fresh apple slices.
