Apple Cider Margarita

Ingredients

For the cocktail
  • 2 oz tequila
  • 1/2 oz Cointreau
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 3/4 oz apple cider
  • 1/2 oz vanilla syrup
For the vanilla syrup
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 vanilla beans or 2 tablespoons of pure vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt optional

Method

To make the vanilla syrup
  1. Combine the sugar, water and vanilla beans in a saucepan.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, and stir continuously until the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Let the mixture simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. If using vanilla beans, remove the bean pods. If not, stir in 2 tablespoons of pure vanilla extract.
To make the cocktail
  1. Fill a shaker with ice.
  2. Add the tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, apple cider, and vanilla syrup to the shaker.
  3. Shake until all ingredients are well combined and chilled.
  4. Strain the mixture into a glass filled with ice.
  5. Garnish with an apple slice or a cinnamon stick, if desired.
