Apple Cider Margarita

Ingredients

For the cocktail

  • 2 oz tequila
  • 1/2 oz Cointreau
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 3/4 oz apple cider
  • 1/2 oz vanilla syrup

For the vanilla syrup

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 vanilla beans or 2 tablespoons of pure vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt optional

Instructions

To make the vanilla syrup

  • Combine the sugar, water and vanilla beans in a saucepan.
  • Heat the mixture over medium heat, and stir continuously until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Let the mixture simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. If using vanilla beans, remove the bean pods. If not, stir in 2 tablespoons of pure vanilla extract.

To make the cocktail

  • Fill a shaker with ice.
  • Add the tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, apple cider, and vanilla syrup to the shaker.
  • Shake until all ingredients are well combined and chilled.
  • Strain the mixture into a glass filled with ice.
  • Garnish with an apple slice or a cinnamon stick, if desired.
