What is a tiki cocktail?
Tiki cocktails are often considered exotic and tropical. They are usually rum based, though there are a few that break that rule. Tiki has a history that goes back to the 1930s and the Tiki themed bars that became so popular. Popular cocktails like the Mai Tai were created in these tiki themed bars and restaurants.
What is Demerara syrup
Demerara syrup is a simple syrup made with demerara sugar and water. Demerara sugar is a raw cane sugar. It has large brown crystals with a crunchy texture. Like brown sugar, it has more of a caramel flavor than white sugar. If you can’t find demerara sugar you can substitute with brown sugar or turbinado sugar.
How to make cinnamon syrup
Cinnamon syrup can be found online from many different cocktail syrup brands like Liber & Co. However, this syrup is also very easy to make at home with just a water, sugar and cinnamon sticks.
Add one cup of water, one cup of sugar and 2-4 cinnamon sticks to a small sauce pot and bring to boil. Simmer for a few minutes then remove from heat and allow to cool. Strain out cinnamon sticks and store for up to one week.
